Making the Blockchain Civic: an article for Interactions Magazine

To what extent can the application of blockchain technologies be employed toward civic empowerment, organizing local civic and circular economies, reinstating trust in civic institutions, or, perhaps, creating entirely new types of institutions?

In a speculative design workshop organized in Amsterdam in May 2019, participants reflected on these questions, exploring opportunities and challenges with regard to designing for future civic good with blockchain technologies. A report written by Chris Elsden, Inte Gloerich, Anne Spaa, John Vines, and Martijn de Waal and entitled Making the Blockchain Civic, was published in Interactions magazine.
